Physical Rehabilitation
Scientific advancement enables humankind to do every thing fast. We have invented fast computers, fast trains, fast air plans, simply want to do every thing fast. Many times this fast approach leads to fatal accidents involving people; loosing their lives and some times their vital organs. When a person’s critical organs are lost or become malfunction he becomes disabled partially or fully. Then he needs others help to perform even basic function and become dependent for ever. When this happens he undergoes tremendous physical and mental pressure and feeling depressed. Physical Rehabilitation programs are coming to rescue for such people. These programs help the affected people to recover physically and mentally by providing various therapies, medication, counseling and eduction according to requirements.
Human is taught and trained from the childhood to use his legs, hands and other vital organs for performing functions like walking, running, swimming, etc. A fatal accident which results in losing or damaging these organs may change everything. He may not be able to function like earlier. He should be prepared to perform that function by using some other organs. For instance if a person lost both the legs in an accidents his won’t be able to walk. He needs training in using walker for walking. This makes him to learn walking from the scratch. A physical rehabilitation program exactly does that. Although this appears to be simple, it is not the case. The person should first prepare mentally and accept the reality. Unless he is mentally prepared he won’t learn walking with walker. Physical rehabilitation programs achieve this through counseling and persuasion. Once he understands the reality then he will prepare himself mentally to change his attitudes
When an human organ is damaged it will take time to cure. During this period they will lose their strength and functionality. Some time they may not be able to function like earlier. Through physical rehabilitation program one can restore the original strength and functionality of the recovered organs. For example, a burn victim may not be able to walk for several months as he was bed ridden for a long period. If he wants to walk then he has to his legs needs retraining and strengthening in order to regain the walking again. This will applicable to every organ which lost its original functionality. Physical rehabilitation programs are designed to address these kind of issues by providing physical and mental training.
