Information on Insomnia
Insomnia is the inability to get proper sleep or sleeplessness. It does not mean that one who is having this disorder will not get sleep at all. Insomnia is just a symptom of sleep disorders but not a disease. In fact Insomnia may last for more than a couple weeks, months or even sometimes years. After a certain period of time with little or no sleep, a person’s body will begin showing signs of it. Insomnia may be referred in several ways such as inability to sleep, dyssomnia, wakefulness, sleeplessness and etc. Insomnia leads to daytime drowsiness, poor concentration and the inability to feel refreshed and rested in the morning.
Causes of Insomnia
Psychological Causes: Anxiety and stress may be causing your stress. If you feel upset, tense or get irritated easily and very often, or if you find it hard to relax, the cause of your insomnia be anxiety or stress.
Medical Causes: some medical conditions such as back or arthritis pains may prevent you from getting to sleep, or they may wake you during the night. Indigestion, allergies, congestion can too often disturb your sleep. If you do have a medical condition and are taking medication to treat it, it is possible that the medication you are taking may be causing your insomnia.
Lifestyle Causes: Sometimes the way you lead your life may also cause insomnia. Diet, lack of exercise, work pressure and leisure schedules can all play a part in stealing sleep.
Poor Sleep Habits: It is possible that the way you think about sleep and the sleep routines you have established are causing your insomnia. If you make yourself to think that you need to sleep for 8 hours, it means you are keeping deadlines for your sleep, which is causing anxiety. Anxiety will only exacerbate your sleep difficulties.

Types of Insomnia
Insomnia may occur in several forms, but broadly they are categorized into three types. They are: transient Insomnia, short-term insomnia and chronic insomnia.
Transient Insomnia: This is often found in many people and the symptoms for this type remain only for single day or few weeks. More than often every person suffers from this type of insomnia.
Acute insomnia: If you have sleep disorders for more than three weeks and up-to six months this stage is called as acute insomnia. You will general face difficulty in falling asleep for longer periods if you have this type of insomnia.
Chronic Insomnia: Among all types, this type of insomnia is very serious because this will last for longer periods and will also make you sleepless throughout night.
In order to get rid of this disorder, make sure you exercise or meditate regularly because maintaining good blood flow will promote new cell growth and allow your body to rest peacefully when sleep comes.
