Depression Anxiety And Insomnia

Insomnia is a condition that many people suffer from today, mainly because of the stress of day to day life and other conditions like anxiety and depression. In fact, sometimes, it is insomnia itself that induces anxiety and depression, along with headaches, dry skin and constipation in the person.

It should be known that the less a person sleeps, the more difficult it is for the person to deal with stress and to fall asleep. When a person suffers from chronic insomnia, it is usually because of fear, chronic anxiety, depression, drug abuse, tension, and dependence on sleeping pills and other chronic illnesses that causes pain and distress at night. It is a known fact that sleep is very important to restore the physical and mental health of a person. In fact, studies have shown that a deficit of sleep tends to lead to problems in the immune system and the concentration of a person. This in turn leads to poor productivity at jobs, irritability and many accidents on the road.

A person suffering from insomnia is very much prone to suffer from anxiety and depression too. This is because all these conditions are all interlinked, and each condition can be considered to be the cause and reason for the other condition. When a person suffers from insomnia, the insufficient sleep makes a person rather tired and irritable. With productivity reduced, the person may experience some anxiety on not being to complete projects at work and chores at home in time.

Sometimes the insufficient sleep in a person can lead to depression as people tend to lose an interest in life. To them there is no light at the end of the tunnel as insufficient sleep makes them lose interest in everything around them. Of course, an occasional night of insufficient sleep will not cause any complications in a person; it is when a person suffers from many sleepless nights that all these complications arise.

It is very important to get treated when suffering from insomnia, anxiety and depression as it can never be told what a person may resort to rid themselves from insomnia. Some people become so depressed and tired with a deficit of sleep that they consider, and may commit suicide to rid them of this unhappiness. On contacting a doctor, the doctor will be able to find out what led to the onset of insomnia; it could be some stress, some medication the person is on or perhaps some food that tends to make the person’s mind sharp and not tired enough to sleep.

It is only the doctor who can find out the best thing to be done for a person suffering from insomnia. So if you suffer from insomnia, contact a doctor as soon as possible. Sometimes occasional bouts of insomnia can be treated with self care measures and changes in the lifestyle and sleeping habits of a person. This is better than prescription drugs that only make you sleep because of the chemicals in the medicine. They tend to become habit forming, where a person finds it difficult to sleep without the medication at all.
