Asthma Attack
The symptoms of an asthma attack are caused due to a series of disorders that happen in the lungs and the airways of the victim. At the time of attach the cells present in the airway produce and excrete mucus in quantity more than that they usually do. The breathing becomes difficult because the excess quantity of mucus clogs the airways. When the situation becomes more severe the mucus might enter into the lungs which would make more of breathing problems as they get filled in the air pocket which are normally make to hold your breath.
The muscles wrapped around the airways get tightened. These tightened muscles constrict the airways and as a result the airways get narrowed down. Thus the asthma attach becomes double problematic. On one hand the air that can travel thru them is reduced and on the other hand the excess amount of mucus is unable to come out because of the hindrance. Both these combine together and make it difficult to inhale and exhale comfortable.
The problem in the third level becomes further more serious. The airways themselves start swelling. The inside of the airways close down because the swelling actually occurs in the muscle tissues that run along side the airways. All the three problems combine together and contribute to generate symptoms of asthma attack. While the excess mucus fills the airways and lungs the swelling of the airways reduces the capacity of the airways to carry required air. Moreover the tightening and constriction of the muscles around the airways all together lead to asthma attack.
The attacks of asthma may be mild, moderate or sometime severe. It might get developed over a period of days or it may occur very suddenly. A sudden severe attach can cause the person to suffocate and can be deadly. Person have a severe attack of asthma may not be able to talk as he becomes so breathless. The person feels as if the neck muscles and the chest muscles have tightened. As and when the level of oxygen reduces in the blood, the color of the lips and fingernails of the victim become bluish.
For a person having a severe asthma attack, an immediate help is a must. The consequences can be disastrous in case of delay in the treatment. First of all the prescribed medication should be taken to stop the attack and to relieve the symptoms. It needs to be handled as a medical emergency as timely treatment can play an important part at the time of severe asthma attack. Take whatever help available to make the patient reach the hospital at the earliest.
The symptoms of a mild attach are more or less the same except that they are not deadly. The person suffering from mild asthma attack should always be planned for. Prompt treatment as per prescribed medication meant of the time of discomfort can be enough to help them. The patient should make sure that he always has the prescribed medication with him and should never run out of it.
