Golf Stretching

Golf is popular among many people irrespective of their age without generation gap. The cool and greenery atmosphere in which golf is played itself brings feast to our mind and body. One can judge its popularity by seeing the crowd this game pulls during the tournaments held across the nations.

Although golf seems to be a simple game to the spectators, performing a swing can be a very difficult assignment, causing strain and sore to the muscles. As any other sports, golf indeed requires regular practice of golf stretching. By practicing some golf stretching exercise specifically designed for golf, a golfer can enhance his swing and distance. Golf stretching can also increase the flexibility and overall energy level.
The main reason for performing a golf stretching before starting the game is to prevent the golfer from injuries such as sprained shoulder or any other stress on muscles. As golf involves a great deal of swinging, the muscles need to be flexible otherwise; there are great chances of getting injured. This is what golf stretching tries to prevent by making the muscles more flexible and supple as well as it also tightens themselves into knots.

Golf stretching can go a long way in shaping and maintaining the physical and mental strength of a golfer, if practiced systematically and consistently. Like any other form of stretching golf stretching routines need to be performed before and after playing the game. But, the only difference here is that the golf stretching can be done in any position, walking, standing or even in sitting position on a chair.

Golf stretching provides the golfer with a wider range of motion. When one takes a big golf swing, it involves lot of rotations, which may result in lower back injury. If this muscle is regularly stretched, the chances of lower back injury are minimum. Golfers needs stretching for their hands also as they hold the club for long hours, otherwise hand can become tired and fatigued.

There are different types of golf stretching and the most common among them are BackSwing Stretch, Lying Leg Crossover. Many renowned golfers perform this type of golf stretching and are benefited out of them.
The BackSwing stretch makes the back feel comfort and also improves the ability to make bigger turn with less hip movement, which results in more torque and energy.  Golf stretching loosens muscles in the back of shoulders and upper back. This gives increased freedom on BackSwing. Lying Leg Crossover strengthens the back and helps in better swinging of the golf and it also enables to make big turning.

Fitness Tip

Don't take the all or nothing approach. It's better to do a little training than none at all. So, even if you can only fit one strength training routine in a week, you'll still benefit from it.
