Active Stretching

Exercise is an essential part in sustaining a healthy life. Exercises are one of the forms of conditioning health. Regular walking or exhausting aerobic classes, both are excellent ways to maintain a normal weight.  Normally, people avoid active stretching as they run short of time or they are preoccupied with other jobs. Incorporation of active stretching daily on a routine basis helps in toning the tired muscles and gives relaxation.

The posture and performance with skill are important aspects in performing active stretching. Active stretching is done only after initial warming ups like walking for five or ten minutes or doing normal household chores or even walking on a treadmill with average speed. Stretching before warming up is tiring as the muscles are not flexible. Active stretching done before the end of the day relieves tension and stress. Practicing active stretching on a routine basis is not a strain.
Running is the common form of cardiovascular exercise. This part of running can be done in open areas or on tread mill. Stretching the legs, hips and ankles after running is not very easy. Active stretching is very famous among runners as it focuses on the stretch of legs, hips and ankles are known as the runners stretch. The simple system followed in this active stretching is to lie down straight and place your hands on the ground. The right knee is made to bend and the other leg is stretched behind. This stretching helps the hips and muscles to get a stretch.
Simultaneously, inner thighs need more attention after running. Bringing your forehead towards the heels in a leaning position and breathing deeply helps in toning the muscle fibers and reducing the strain. Active stretching introduces flexibility and helps in preventing sport injuries.

Similarly, any pain realized during stretching cannot be ignored as it is an indication of alarm. During the initial stages a little discomfort or pain may be felt but continuity of the same or severity of the pain is an indication to discontinue. Exercises or stretching that constricts the vertebrae may cause damage. So it is essential that active stretching is a must for every individual as a routine, but overdoing or trying out varied techniques may turn to be harmful.

Regular stretching regulates the blood flow. This in turn rejuvenates the cells and keeps one fit and energetic. Any exercise or active stretching done with the consultation of a doctor or with proper guidance surely turns to be beneficial.

Fitness Tip

Don't take the all or nothing approach. It's better to do a little training than none at all. So, even if you can only fit one strength training routine in a week, you'll still benefit from it.
