Samsung DVD Burner

Samsung exemplifies technological determination and progressive standards. And from technology to business to the philanthropy, Samsung has become a world leader for which the possibilities are truly endless. Today DVD burners used to be a very expensive, but the change in the market was so rapid that now even top of the line brands can be found for at or below $100. Samsung previously was an outsider in terms of optical storage, but they now are one of the top names for DVD and CD burners.

As with many drives on the market, the Samsung DVD burner is compatible with both +R and -R formats. It also supports the new dual-layer DVD+R media for nearly double the storage capacity as well as CD recording is strong with a 40x speed for CD-R and 24x for CD-RW. The New-generation models can burn to higher-capacity DL (double-layer/dual-layer) variants of the two write-once blanks and can handle the rugged, longer-life rewritable DVD-RAM format, too. DVD-RAM discs cost far more than any of the other DVD blank media (though DL blanks remain pricey, too), so they are not something we would expect most people to normally choose instead of -/+RW rewritables or ultra-cheap write-once blanks.

However, being able to write and read DVD-RAM is useful if you to create any secure copies of highly important files on a PC. It will also be of considerable value to several owners of camcorders because a goodly number of camcorders now use DVD-RAM as their preferred recording media, since, in camcorders, it offers faster and better disc access and navigation than other types of recordable DVD.

Samsung DVD burners can to write to CD blanks - CD-R write-once and CD-RW rewritables. So, as with a CD-only burner, you can make your own music-disc compilations and backups of commercial audio CDs for use in the car or portable and personal players. Being able to write to CD and DVD also allows you to make backup copies of commercial software - so there's no need to risk damaging the valuable originals by using them on an everyday basis.

And, of course, all types of CD and DVD blanks can be used to create temporary or permanent copies of data files that place on your PC, though DVD-RAM is the format of choice if the files are very important. Another nice feature with the Samsung DVD burner was the comparatively low noise generated by the drive during reading and writing operations. Overall, the Samsung DVD burner is a very good quality all around drive. It is not the fastest at any one media type but it has strong performance for all of them.
