Water for Toddler
Water is again a kind of attraction for the toddler. The important reason is that the child sees its mirror image in the water and tries to catch it. If the water source is shallow and safe then no issues but if it is a swimming pool then the kids should not be left alone to move astray.
There are histories and records where the toddlers are drowned in swimming pools. It was the case with children in olden times when there used to be a well in each house. So if you have a swimming pool in the back yard of your home or if you go to swimming clubs you need to be utmost careful if you have a tiny tot of yours with you. If you have a swimming pool and do have a toddler too then make sure you provide fencing to the pool or a closed path so that your toddler cannot reach the pool while wading through or crawling towards it.
It is because; toddlers slip with their tiny legs soon and are under water in no time. They get drowned quickly and silently. They loose their balance once under water. And you notice it only when it is too late. Again when there is more than one kid always keep all the kids away from the water bodies. U should never let elder kids take care of the younger ones when near water. Elder parents should always be there to assist the kids.
Toddlers don’t have the sense to identify danger, a smooth surface of garden, a coarse uneven path or a slippery pool everything is the same for them. They generally get excited and want to explore the world around them. They don’t mind playing with dangers, actually at this age they don’t know what a danger is. Every place is a heaven for them.
On the other hand there are certain kids who have a phobia of water. They don’t ever prefer to bath when it comes to moving near water. Such kids should be helped bathing and it should be made a comfortable experience for them. They should be given water to drink in a glass and teach them water doesn’t harm them in any way. Parents should keep playing with kids in the pool so it keeps them distracted and slowly and steadily helps to remove the fear far away from their mind. Parents should help kids applying soap and washing hair if the kids start screaming when in the bath or near water. They should take utmost care of kid and devote maximum time with them. If the fear still persists the parents should take advice from some medical practitioner or psychologist and help their kids lead a normal and happy life.
Prevention is always better than cure.
